Figurative and Narrative

I’ve always been drawn to paintings that hint at a story, without spelling it out — the kind that make you lean in, wondering what has just happened, or what’s about to.

A long-time visitor of historic cemeteries, I often imagine the stone figures I study brought to life. For example, In Night Garden, a lone figure moves through a moonlit garden — garlic bulb in hand for protection, palm fronds suggesting spiritual passage. A rabbit, a robin, and a framed seascape — echo of a former life — accompany her quiet ritual beneath the dark bloom of moonflowers.

In this series of figurative narrative works, I follow that instinct:

Many of these pieces draw from my love of Victorian and folk imagery, filtered through a contemporary lens. They are stories without words — meant to leave space for your imagination to enter.
